OLENA MOSIYEVYCH
ABOUT the ARTIST

Artist and scientist Olena Mosiyevych was born in Ukraine. Forseeing the Russian intervention, she moved to the United States, where she currently live and work. She has presented her work worldwide, in Ukraine, Europe, the US, and Japan, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum and Museum of Ukrainian Painting.

EDUCATION

After obtaining a PhD in Economics from Kyiv Mochyla Academy, Ukraine, the oldest University in Eastern Europe, she immersed herself in artmaking and art history, studied Byzantine sacred art at Ukrainian Catholic University.

ARTIST'S METHOD
"Plasticity of line and its pulsating quality create the nexus of my method and meaning. Layers of impenetrable color become openwork, creating a shining effect that reproduces nature as I see it: an energetic state of being, where, as in music, new rhythms of light and harmony emerge".

ART PROJECTS & OTHER PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY

Actively supporting Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression, I have used my art to raise funds. In March, 2022 I initiated and coorganized an art auction in Nebraska, the USA that raised $26,000 to support Ukraine. This included: more than 150 attendees, contributions from more than 20 regional artists, the generous support of local people, friends, and organizations.
